Volunteer With Cognitive Range

Cognitive Range is powered by volunteers who believe legal recruitment should work for everyone. Whatever your skills or background, there’s likely a role here that fits, and every role is designed to flex around your existing work or studies, not compete with them.

Below are our four core volunteer roles. If you’re interested in more than one, or something you don’t see listed, let us know when you apply.

Outreach Volunteers

What you’ll do
Build and maintain relationships with law firms, chambers, and in-house legal teams. You’ll help introduce firms to Cognitive Range, support conversations around training and accreditation, and, once a firm is on board, help deliver our accredited training workshops directly.

Typical activities

Reaching out to early careers and D&I contacts at firms
Supporting or leading calls and meetings with prospective partner firms
Co-delivering or leading accredited training workshops
Helping maintain relationships with firms we’ve already partnered with

Good fit if you
Are confident communicating with professionals, enjoy relationship-building, and want direct experience in outreach, business development, or training delivery.

Content Creators

What you’ll do
Help run and grow our social media presence, planning, designing, and posting content that reaches students, recruiters, and supporters across LinkedIn, Instagram, and beyond.

Typical activities

Planning and scheduling social media posts
Designing graphics and short-form content
Growing engagement and following across our channels
Helping shape how Cognitive Range’s voice comes across publicly

Good fit if you
Have an interest in social media, design, or communications, and want hands-on experience building a brand’s presence from the ground up.

Student Ambassadors

What you’ll do
Represent Cognitive Range at your own university, raising awareness of what we do and making sure students on your course know the support exists. You’ll work directly with your law society to organise and run workshops for fellow students.

Typical activities

Spreading awareness of Cognitive Range within your university and law school
Organising and running workshops in partnership with your law society
Acting as a first point of contact for students at your university with questions
Feeding back what students at your university actually need from us

Good fit if you
Are a current law student who wants to make a visible difference at your own university, and enjoys organising events or speaking to groups.

Research & Student Support Authors

What you’ll do
Help build and maintain the content on our website, the guidance, resources, and advice that students and recruiters rely on. This includes researching conditions and best practice, and writing clear, accurate, well-evidenced content.

Typical activities

Researching neurodivergent conditions, workplace adjustments, and recruitment best practice
Writing and updating guidance for our Support Information and Research & Evidence pages
Fact-checking and keeping existing content current
Contributing to resources aimed at both students and supporters

Good fit if you
Enjoy research and writing, have an eye for detail and accuracy, and want to build content that genuinely helps people navigate a difficult process.
